Harp Competitions Timetable April 30th 2011 2010 Programme below - Updates later for 2011 Competitions All Events (Workshops, Competitions, Concert) take place in Ard Scoil Phadraig, Ballinalee Road, Granard. Results of 2009 Competitions 10.00 am Novice Under 2 years tuition. Two contrasting tunes 11.00 am Under 12 Harp Two contrasting tunes 12.00 noon Under I5 Harp John Dungan Cup Two contrasting tunes of choice 2.30 Under 18 (Intermediate) Grace Nugent Cup All competitors shall play one tune from each category: I. Traditional Slow Air 2. Traditional Irish Dance Music 3. Other Irish Music: (March, Planxty: Ancient and Modern Harp Music). 3.30 pm Senior Open Canon Gilfinnan Cup Plus euro650 All competitors shall play three tunes chosen from the following categories: (Two tunes may be played from the same category only if they are contrasting pieces) The three tunes must not be taken from one category only. I. Traditional Slow Air (Gentrai, Geoltari & Suantrai) 2. Traditional Irish Dance Music (Jig, Reel, Hornpipe, Polka & Set Music) 3. Other Irish Music: (March, Planxty: Ancient and Modern Harp Music). 4.30 pm Harp duet. One instrument must be a harp. Melody must be played by both musicians. Competitors must produce birth certificate if requested for Harp competitions. Senior Open Canon Gillfilan Cup 1st Aedin Martin, Dublin. 2nd Ciara Taffe, Meath. 3rd Fearghal McCartan, Down. H.C. Fiana O'Connell, Florence De Faucher, France & Anna Lee Foster, U.S.A. Harp duets 1st Aine Allen & Aedin Poole, Meath. 2nd Aedin Martin & Cormac Butler, Dublin. 3rd Ciara Taffe & Shane Taffe, Meath. Adjudicator Kim Fleming Over 90 children took part in the music workshops over two days and 41 Harps took part in the competitions.
