Wendy
Stewart
Over
30 years of playing the Scottish harp has taken Wendy all
over the world, and the result, combined with her innate
Scottishness, adds up to a unique repertoire of
traditional and original material.W
endy has played with many bands where Irish, french,
Scandinavian and Welsh influences coloured her musical
ideas. She is harper with the group Ceolbeg, enjoys a
flourishing solo career and occasionally - and
delightfully - can be seen live in the ensemble Wendy and
the Lost Boys.
As a teacher Wendy is in great demand and really
transmits the joy of playing. She is one of the tutors on
the new BA course in Scottish music at the Royal Scottish
Academy of Music and Drama.
Her method of teaching is by ear, with written music
as back-up, and she inspires her pupils to create their
own arrangements from a given framework.Wendy's interests
in dance and poetry add to her view of harp playing as
therapy - as well as plain fun!
