SOUNDING STRINGS

Scottish music for the harp with three of Scotland's best harp teachers. Designed primarily for intermediate and advanced students and including an elementary class. What is special about this course is the emphasis on enabling harpers to play with other instrumentalists and singers. Workshops, teaching sessions and discussions with other traditional musicians are an integral part of the course.

Designed for intermediate and advanced players, this course explores Scottish music and the place of the Scottish harp within a broad cultural context. Working with three inspirational teachers, pupils can develop their ability to improvise, practise their oral skills and enjoy session playing in a safe environment.

What makes this harp course different is the emphasis placed upon working with other instruments, and the presence of guest tutors whose knowledge of Scottish music is unsurpassed.

Last year's students said

'A lifetime experience - I brought home countless treasures to savor'.

'A richly rewarding week, stretched...in any number of ways, especially our imaginations'.

Tutors

  • Wendy Stewart of Ceolbeg and Patsy Seddon of Poozies and Sileas will work with intermediate and advanced students. Heather Yule, experienced teacher and story-teller with harp, takes an elementary class.
