Festival

The Festival held in honour of the famous Harper and composer Turlough O'Carolan includes Concerts, Set Dancing Céilís, Harp Recitals, Lectures and Music sessions.

Harpers and traditional musicians world wide are now coming in big numbers to Keadue for the August Bank Holiday Festival.

Artists

The following are some of the Artists who have performed at the Festival over the years: The Chieftains, Sean Keane, De Dannan, Altan, Archady, Dervish, Stocktons Wing, Maire Ní Chathasaigh and Chris Newman, Belfast Harp Orchestra, Gráinne Yeats, Dordán, Mary Black, Sharon Shannon, Frances Black, Laurie Riley, Michael Bean, Therese Honey, Harper Tasche (USA), and Birkin Tree.

Friday July 31st - Opening of Festival

  • 9.00pm: Address of welcome by Mr Seamus McCormack Chairman Connaught Co. CCE
  • Concert of Harp and Song with Eamon & Orla Daly, Liam Purcell & Friends and Ireland’s Top Harpers
  • 10.00pm: Céili with Matt Cunningham

Saturday Aug 1st

  • 10.30am - 1.00pm: Harp Workshop. Set Dancing Workshop
  • 3.00pm: Ceili Dancing Classes with Tutor Mary Conboy. Especially suited to visitors
  • 9.00pm: Eleanor Shanley in Concert with Frankie Lane & Paul Kelly

Sunday Aug 2nd

  • Seán O'Riada Mass in Keadue Church celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Cathal B Daly
  • 3.00pm: Festival Parade.
  • 3.30pm: Official Opening of the Festival by Lieut Gen Dermot Earley, Chief of Staff Irish Defence Forces. Outdoor Entertainment. Craft Demonstrations, Exhibitions, Vintage Car Rally & other events
  • 4.45pm: Traditional Music and song with Shaskeen
  • 6.30pm: Music Session - featuring Liam Purcell & Friends
  • 9.30pm: Matt Molloy, John Carty, Arty McGlynn in Concert

Monday Aug 3rd

  • 10.30am: Harp Competitions commence
  • 12.00 noon: Lecture
  • 2.00pm: Arigna Tour - of the Arigna Mining Museum & Windfarm
  • 4.30pm: Traditional Music and Song on the outdoor stage. Afternoon entertainment - Best Foot Forward
  • 7.30pm: Traditional Irish Music and Door Dancing Competition with Liam Purcell & Friends, with MC Eugene Murphy of Shannonside Radio
